The Academy of Interpretation (AOI) has unveiled a new educational initiative designed to enhance the expertise of medical interpreters. The course, titled “Interpreting for OB/GYN – Part 1: Infertility,” is a collaborative effort with Marisa Rueda Will, CHI, of Tica Interpreter Training and Translations. This specialized program is crafted to provide interpreters across various language pairings with essential knowledge and skills related to infertility.
The course has been approved for two performance-based continuing education units (CEUs) by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI). It aims to offer an in-depth understanding of infertility, a key area for interpreters working in obstetrics and gynecology. Participants will benefit from instructional videos presented by Marisa Rueda Will, a recognized expert in the field, and will gain crucial insights into the intricacies of infertility treatments and patient care.

- Infertility Causes and Initial Treatment: Insight into the various causes of infertility and the initial treatment approaches.
- Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART): A comprehensive look at ART procedures, associated costs, and their effectiveness.
- Infertility Success Rates and Interpreter Ethics: Examination of infertility treatment success rates and the ethical responsibilities of interpreters in medical settings.
- Interactive Learning: Opportunities for self-practice through dialogue activities, access to glossaries, and a certificate of completion.
